Inspiring Art/Food Evening at Te Uru Waitākere Contemporary Gallery: Join us for an exclusive evening with local artist and forager Mamakan

6 May 2021

Join us for an exclusive evening with local artist and forager Mamakan. Originally from Denmark, Mamakan has exhibited her multi-sensory art/food installations both nationally and internationally.

Now based in Parau in West Auckland, Mamakan will delight and intrigue us with a foraging tour around Te Uru, where we will use our senses to see, smell, touch and taste a few of the many native plants on our doorstep.

This walk will be followed by an artist talk in the Learning Centre hosted by our curator, Chloe, accompanied by a sensorial feasting table where we will learn how Mamakan transforms native seasonal flowers, fruits, leaves and seeds into delicious edible items.

We will try Mamakan’s creations and make a Kauri Cocktail guided by her knowledge and expertise. A non-alcoholic option will be available.
Please bring some comfortable shoes for a short walk, some warm clothes and an umbrella or coat.

Thursday 6 May, 5.30-8pm | $40
Spaces limited, please pay on booking your place.
