Art of Foraging Level 1 | Foundations: Velskov, Auckland

1 February 2026

Perfect for beginners or anyone curious about foraging. Learn to forage and identify edible native plants through sight, touch, taste, and smell.

Part nature walk, part immersive sensory experience, the NEW Art of Foraging explores new dimensions of wisdom, wonder, and well-being.

Mamakan, Founding Forest Farmer at Velskov, guides you through her knowledge of New Zealand native plants and forest ecosystems, connecting your senses and curiosity with the natural world.

Each walk is bespoke, small, and outdoors, giving you space to fully indulge your senses at Velskov, a native forest farm just 35 minutes from Auckland CBD.

REVIEWS

"I returned feeling very grounded and in awe of the native plants we live amongst. The smells and tastes we experienced were incredible. All beautiful magic potions! A very welcoming sense of "homecoming" opportunity for all of us, new migrants, visitors, and residents. I will be recommending The Art of Foraging to many special people". - Renee Tanner

"A reinvigorating encounter that captivates all of the senses. This made me realize the great multitude of amazing multi-purposed native plants surrounding us, whether at the local park or in the ancient national forests. Mamakan teaches through storytelling, and her experiences engage you in a world more connected to nature. A grounding experience to reset from the disconnectedness of the modern age" - Frasier Cho
