Mamakan commission for Spring Festival, Titirangi Rudolf Steiner School

Rangiora (the proper name is Brachyglottis repanda) has pretty blooming spring flowers. It's such a fascinating little tree. In former days, kids used the leaves to write and post letters as a child, which must be such a fond memory.
Think of the symbolism as the old winter (the white leaf, bitten by insects and caterpillars perhaps) giving way to the greenery of spring (the fresh green leaf) with its promise of golden sunshine (the flowers) bathing in the shimmering sea of summer.
