Overview
We were blown away by "The Art of Foraging" walk. The tasting and smelling of various plants and products made from them were a surprise and a treat! My wife, our son and myself came away with our eyes and hearts opened to the abundance and beauty of our land. Leo Hommel and Martien Jonkers, Homeopath and Osteopath. Awareness, Well Being and Mindfulness Mentors, New Zealand/The Netherlands."The Art of Foraging" unexpectedly provided me with a very deep connection with nature. I came away both surprised and grateful for this experience. Through Mamakan's love for plants and her sharing of her knowledge, not just through words but by seeing, smelling, and tasting what they offered, I was quite amazed. I realized through this experience some of nature's secrets and how she can provide for us if treated respectfully. After being introduced and intimately connected to the edible plants along our walk through the schools beautiful grounds, we were asked to walk quietly through the bush on our way back. It was in these moments that this peace came over me and a feeling of gratitude filled me for the experience. A new connection and respect for nature was awakened and it would never be the same again. Now I will excitedly look forward to my next opportunity to walk through the bush and explore the sacred plants of New Zealand with Mamakan. Thomas Kuhner, Goldsmith and Jewelry Designer, USAI didn't know what to expect initially and it was not just an eye-opener, but also a unique adventure in being able to savour the fragrance and taste of native plants. Walking in the NZ bush will never be the same again after you've done this amazing tour! Dany Leong, Award-winning Director and Founder of Intuitive Films, Singapore/MalaysiaMamakan led us on a beautiful, informative and uplifting walk through the grounds of the school bringing a variety of native plants and trees into respectful focus. The preparations made from flowers, foliage and stems were exquisitely thought through and presented. I've been excited to have and pass on little bits of my learning already. Michaela Hendry, Teacher, New Zealand/The UKThe Art of Foraging walk was a creative experience that both myself and my daughter thoroughly enjoyed. Mamakan's facilitation brought through a strong sense of reverence for beauty and connection for these plants and trees on the land. An experience of joy, wonder and magic that enabled us to enter into a deepening relationship and receive some of the gifts that these plants offer to us if we just allow the space and time.
